To be eligible for the start-up phase of the pilot project, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be recognized as an asylum seeker;
  • Hold or be in the process of holding a work permit issued by the Government of Canada

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all asylum seekers eligible? 

All asylum seekers who are waiting for a work permit or who have a valid work permit are eligible for the pilot project. 

Is prior work experience in tourism required to participate in the project? 

No. Requirements may vary depending on available positions. Applicants will be evaluated based on a multitude of factors including employer needs, French communication skills, previous work experience and the ability to quickly integrate into a workplace. 

Is it necessary to be bilingual and speak French to register for the pilot project? 

No. Linguistic constraints will be assessed based on the requirements of companies and each available position. Asylum seekers selected under the pilot project will be provided with French language training services if necessary. 

Does registration for the pilot project guarantee employment? 

No. Each registration will be evaluated based on a multitude of factors including employer needs, French communication skills, previous work experience and the ability to quickly integrate into a workplace. Each asylum seeker who registers will receive feedback.
